What is Democracy?

A fellow classmate and I were discussing some political matters, and truth be told, I could care less what he had to say. Then I asked him what democracy really meant and he said "freedom of speech by the people," I responded by asking "exactly what people?" He then stated "exactly." With the "Compton Cookout" ignorance and claiming bullshit freedom of speech nonsense, I ask you all what people truly have this so- called "FREEDOM OF SPEECH?" A serious question. Who has the benefits of freedom of speech?

FUTURE SENATOR

DEAR MR. PRESIDENT,

IF I BECOME A CANNIBAL, A SERIAL KILLER, OR A RACIST, CAN I BE A PART OF THE GOVERNMENT TOO?

SINCERLY,
THE FUTURE

"The Compton Cookout"
One of UCSD's fraternities recently had a party called the "Compton Cookout," which I am absolutely confused about, particularly with my emotions. I know I should be offended, but for some reason, I feel like this is how we are represented by the famous Black people (no other way of saying it). Basically this proves my point about slavery and racism (my other post) still existing and society is blinded by it, especially the black community. But then again I feel like we it bring upon ourselves and we do not even realize it, not us persay, but the Black people in the media, specifically rappers. I mean the more niggerish you are the better. The more thirsty you are to buy lemonade diamond bracelets that make you look fruity, the better you are to represent the Black community. I feel like these are the qualifications for the white man to sign a rapper and write those nice checks; to make the Black man feel like he is worthy, when he is just digging himself in a deeper hole.   MY POINT IS THAT IT IS NOT OKAY FOR THESE STUDENTS TO MAKE A MOCKERY OF THE BLACK COMMUNITY AND IT IS NOT OKAY FOR BLACK PEOPLE TO ACCEPT IT, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY IT IS NOT OKAY FOR BLACK PEOPLE TO PRAISE THE IGNORANCE OF OTHER BLACKS WHO ARE SUPPOSE TO REPRESENT US.

this is how they see us

Advice for upcoming rappers

This is an Informal Post

So for all you up and coming rappers who DO NOT HAVE TALENT here is what you need to make it. It is simple...A catch phrase that will prevent people from focusing on your lyrics. Three perfect examples are Gucci Mane, Plies, and Nicki Minaj.
Gucci says "Guuuuccciiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii,"which makes people forget about his BEYOND HORRIBLE LYRICS. He raps about lemonade and raps like this. "blah blah blah...ITS GUUUUCCCIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII...BURRRRR!"(Gucci voice) "Damn that shit went" Thats what you all are thinking.
Plies says "Its Pliiiesssssss baybay" I do not even know what he raps about. I just know he says he is a goon...All I can say is #ontothenext
Nicki Minaj calls herself Barbie, Nicki Lewinsky. Ummmm I guess it works for her, but she does not rap about anything, she just lets her words rhyme. But you know what it is catchy, I will not even lie. I listened to her mixtape, but I definitely changed every song with lame ass Gucci Mane on it.
Maybe he will reflect upon his lyrics in prison and realize he needs to read a book to learn more words and new topics to rap about.

Thanks for your time.
Shawn

Shit on my mind.

BACKGROUND:
I am a 4th year college student and I have realized many people who attend a university seem to stray away from the idea of religion and belief in Jesus and God, but I have indeed gained a stronger belief in Jesus and the Christian religion. (ALTHOUGH I DO NOT BELIEVE IN DENOMINATIONS) Not only have I gained stronger belief in my Christ, I have become more aware of issues occuring in my own society, especially in the Black community.

FIRST THING IS FIRST:
SLAVERY STILL EXISTS. The history books tells us that slavery ended around the Civil War, but I am strong believer that slavery still exists and feel the Black community should know it. (THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT A RACIAL THING, TRUST ME). And I do not mean slavery in a sense of being in shackles, chains, and working on plantations, I mean slavery as being one person having absolute power, and I do not mean Obama.

I WILL KEEP IT SHORT AND SIMPLE
Slavery allowed Africans, Afro-Americans NOT African an emphasis on AFRO , Blacks and Creoles, to have dignity, courage, inspiration, and goals to create a better life for themseleves beyond the oppression and servitude etc., but with times progression the Black community have forgotten the history and influence of slavery. Because of slavery the Americas "The New World" was able to become an economic success (BASICALLY ECONOMICALLY RICH DUE TO SLAVES), but now we have allowed an absolute power tell us we are lazy, should live on welfare, should be in prisons, should be drug dealers, and should be rappers. Basically living up to the stereotypes of typical Black people and I use the term Black losely. (W.E.B Do Bois said those who classify themselves as Black are lost) Not my words. But I found it interesting.  I HAVE NOT MADE MY POINT YET AND DO NOT PLAN ON IT FOR A WHILE.
Check out Ira Berlins article on Time and Space.
Do we literally need to be slaves again for us to not live up to the stereotypes and actually POSITIVELY contribute to our society economically, socially, spiritually, financially and all the other "allys" there are?
I THOUGHT WITH OBAMA BEING PRESIDENT THE BLACK COMMUNITY WOULD WANT TO BETTER THEMSELVES, BUT FROM MY OBSERVATIONS MY HYPOTHESIS WAS IN CORRECT.
I do not mean to offend anyone, especially if you are not part of the group I am talking about, but in reality you probably are because I find myself sometimes being enslaved in what the absolute power tells me I should be.
Thank you for your time.
I have yet to begun.
